What Group Types Does cMe Offer?

Category: Groups

Platforms: Android / iPhone (coming soon)

cMe offers four group types: Family Group, Friends Group, Special Group, and Temporary Group. Choosing the right type helps members understand the group's purpose and apply the appropriate sharing and privacy settings.

Family Group

Family Group is suited for long-term location sharing among parents, children, spouses, elderly family members, and other relatives. Because family groups usually reflect a higher level of trust, cMe may handle certain privacy features differently in family groups compared with other groups.

Friends Group

Friends Group is suited for building a long-term or frequently used location-sharing relationship among friends. Members can still independently control whether they share real-time location and location history in this group.

Special Group

The official English name for this group type is Special Group. It's suited for purposes outside of family or ordinary friend relationships — for example, clubs, community activities, school or organizational events, specific projects, outdoor teams, and other long-term collaborative scenarios.

"Special Group" is the official name used in cMe's current app interface. The Help Center and other official documentation do not use alternative names such as "Interest Group" in its place.

Temporary Group

Temporary Group is suited for trips, gatherings, exhibitions, competitions, hikes, or other activities with a clear end date. Temporary Groups have a set expiration period; the specific available periods are shown in the app.

Tip

Choose a group type based on the real relationship and purpose. Members can still manage location sharing individually within each group, so joining a group doesn't mean you must share your location continuously.
