How Do I Turn On Location Sharing?
Category: Real-Time Location
Platforms: Android / iPhone (coming soon)
For authorized members in the same group to see your location, both the system's location permissions and cMe's group sharing settings need to be satisfied.
Before You Turn It On
- Your phone's location service is turned on.
- cMe has the appropriate location permission.
- If you need sharing while locked or in the background, background location is allowed.
- Your phone can connect to the network.
- You've joined at least one group.
Steps to Turn It On
- Open cMe.
- Go to the group you want to share your location in, or the relevant settings page.
- Turn on real-time location sharing for that group.
- Grant location permission as prompted by the system.
- Return to the map and wait for your device to obtain a valid location and complete the first upload.
You can control location sharing separately for each group. Turning off sharing in one group doesn't automatically affect other groups.
The map shows the most recent location the device has successfully uploaded. After you first turn sharing on, it may take longer for your location to appear if you're indoors, underground, or in an area with a weak network.
Tip
Android users should also check battery optimization and background-running settings; iPhone users should allow precise location and choose a location permission suited to background sharing, as prompted by the system.
