Why Can't Others See My Location?
Category: Troubleshooting
Platforms: Android / iPhone (coming soon)
If group members can't see your location, first confirm that real-time location sharing, the system's location permission, GPS, and your network connection are all working.
Possible Causes
- You turned off global location sharing.
- You only turned off location sharing in the current group.
- Your phone's location service is turned off.
- cMe doesn't have the necessary location permission.
- Background location is restricted by the system.
- Your device hasn't obtained a valid GPS location yet.
- The network is unavailable, so your location hasn't uploaded.
- You're indoors, in an underground parking garage, or somewhere else with weak satellite signal.
- A privacy address or group privacy rules are affecting the precise location display.
- The app was force-stopped, you're logged out, or it hasn't run in a long time.
Recommended Checks
- Open cMe and confirm you're logged into the correct account.
- Check the location-sharing toggle for the current group.
- Confirm your phone's system location service is turned on.
- Check cMe's location and background-location permissions.
- Go outdoors or near a window and wait for your device to obtain a valid fix.
- Check your mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.
- Android users: check battery optimization, background-running, and auto-start settings.
- iPhone users: check precise location and the appropriate location authorization.
- Have other members refresh the map or reopen the group.
Tip
"Online" usually means the account or app has recently communicated with the server — it doesn't necessarily mean the device has uploaded a new, valid location.
