Once you've granted the appropriate location permission and turned on location sharing, cMe can keep updating your location while your iPhone is locked or the app isn't in the foreground.
However, iOS manages background tasks according to its own system policies, battery level, network, device usage, and positioning conditions, so the background update frequency isn't necessarily the same as in the foreground.
Recommended Checks
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Find cMe's location permission settings.
- Allow cMe to use a location permission suited for background sharing.
- Turn on "Precise Location."
- Confirm the system's location service is turned on.
- Check whether location sharing is turned on in the current group.
- Avoid frequently force-closing cMe from the app switcher.
- Confirm your network connection is working.
If the system currently only offers options like "While Using the App," you can use cMe normally for now and adjust the permission later as prompted by the system or in Settings. The display may differ across iOS versions.
Note
Even with permissions configured correctly, being underground, indoors, on a weak network, or low on battery can still reduce or delay location updates. cMe cannot bypass iOS's system-level background management.
