Why Does Android Show a cMe Location Notification?

Category: System Requirements & Permissions

Platforms: Android

Android requires apps that run in the background long-term and use location capabilities to show a foreground service notification. This notification lets you know cMe is performing a location-sharing-related background task.

The notification may show that cMe is detecting motion, waiting for a location, obtaining a location, or maintaining a background service. It doesn't necessarily mean GPS is running continuously at high frequency.

If you dismiss the notification or restrict the foreground service, Android may more easily stop cMe's background task, which can affect the stability of locked-screen or background location sharing.

Tip

If you'd rather not keep sharing your location, we recommend turning off location sharing in cMe rather than force-closing the foreground service notification.
